Monthly themes
A new theme every month, and the two we can name
Updated
Dog subscription box themes change every month here: each box brings a new theme and a new lineup, with favorites coming back as the mix shifts. Two are set ahead of time. December is Christmas and February is Valentine's Day. Whatever the theme, your dog's skip list still decides what stays out.
How do monthly themes work in a dog treat box?
Each month the Modified Monthly box gets a new theme and a new lineup. Think of it as the box changing its paint color while the car underneath stays the same. Favorites come back, though the mix around them shifts. A theme gives the month a name and a feel. The lineup is the actual set of treats.
Photos on the product page are examples of what a month can look like, which is useful for the feel of a box and no use at all for counting bags. They are not a list of what you will get. Contents, varieties and quantities vary by month, and a new or unreleased treat may appear, though none is guaranteed.
You choose Dog or Cat when you start a box, and the theme belongs to the month. The dog box page covers the dog version. We do not announce a full calendar here.
That split is worth keeping in mind when you read a theme name. A name like Christmas or Valentine's Day tells you what the month is about. It does not tell you which treats, how many or in what form, and we avoid guessing at those in writing.
What is the December box theme?
Christmas. That is what we can say, and it is one of the two themes we can name before the month starts.
What we do not say is what is inside. There are no treat names on this page, no shapes or colors, and no promise about particular items. The theme tells you the mood of the month. The lineup tells you the contents, and the lineup is decided by the month and not by this page.
If you are reading this before December, treat the theme as a heads up and not a preview.
We also do not give ship dates or arrive-by dates here. The box ships within the US only.
What is the February box theme?
Valentine's Day. February's box follows the same rules as December's: the theme is named in advance, and the contents are not. We list no treats, colors or counts, and nothing on this page should be read as a promise about a particular bag.
Two themes are all we are pinning down in public for now. The other months are not named here, and we would rather leave them blank than guess.
A box built around a date on the calendar is a different thing from a gift box built for someone else, and this page is about your own dog's box as a subscriber.
What stays the same when the theme changes?
More than you might expect. Your skip list stays. Any protein you ask us to leave out can be left out, Greek yogurt and cheddar treats included, and the place to say so is your order notes or the website. The dog treat skip list guide shows how to word one.
One box still means one pet. When two dogs share a home, their boxes carry the same lineup, theme and all.
What we make stays the same too: single ingredient treats from our own small batches in Malvern, Pennsylvania, freeze dried or air dried. And they are meant for intermittent or supplemental feeding, which is a treat and not a meal.
All our reading on the box is in the guides hub.
Questions
Can I choose which theme my dog gets?
The theme is the month's. What you pick is Dog or Cat, plus any proteins your dog goes without, which you list in the order notes or on the website. Those choices carry through every theme, whatever the month brings.
Does a holiday theme mean holiday ingredients?
We have no statement about ingredients for any theme. A theme does not override your skip list, and the contents of a box still change each month. Read the ingredient list on every bag when the box arrives.
What are the themes for the other months?
This page names December and February, which are Christmas and Valentine's Day. The rest of the year is not announced here, and we will not hint at it. We would rather say that than make up a calendar for you.
Is the cat box themed too?
The cat box is its own box with its own lineup. We say nothing here about how its theme works. The Cat box page is the place to look for the cat version, and we make no claim that the two boxes share a lineup.
Do favorites ever come back?
Yes. Old favorites reappear even as the rest of the assortment moves on. A returning treat does not mean the month looks the same, because the theme and the rest of the lineup are new each time.
Will the December box arrive before Christmas?
We do not give arrive-by dates on this page, and no ship date is set out here. What we can say is that boxes ship within the US only, so the address on the order needs to be a US one.
